ABOUT THE COURSE

This exciting course has been designed to prepare you for working in the hairdressing industry. This course focuses on learning basic hairdressing techniques, working towards external clients to achieve confidence in hairdressing skills. This course is a good starting point for a great career in hairdressing.

Your hairdressing training will take place in our well equipped and modern hairdressing salons at the Chichester Campus, mirroring a real high street salon atmosphere. You will work with the leading hairdressing brands such as Redken, Lee Stafford and Wella, being taught by highly experienced and qualified hairdressing lecturers.

If you are 16-18 years of age, you will be taking part in learning Maths and English as  part of this course.

WHO CAN JOIN?

You must have 4 GCSE grades at 2 or above including Mathematics and English plus two other GCSE, such as Science or a Creative subject. 

You need to secure work experience placement in a Hairdressing Salon for  4 hours a week while studying on the course.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED

You will be assessed through a combination of class based theory work and practical salon based assignments which you must bring your own clients for.

COSTS/EQUIPMENT

Students 16-18 year old will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Please note: You may be entitled to a Bursary payment to help with costs such as travel to College, trips and equipment, a food allowance and childcare. To qualify you must be resident in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria which will include evidence of your financial circumstances.

AFTER COMPLETING THE COURSE

Following this course you will be able to work in industry perfecting your skills working towards a stylist. Technical courses specialising in colour and cutting are a great progression route to build your confidence.
